BuildEXT at Siemens BIM Design Conference

2023. On 16 November, SI Building technology held the BIM Design Conference at the headquarters of Siemens Zrt. BuildEXT was proud to be represented at the event, where Attila Cselovszki, our Digital Director, gave an insight into the role of the human factor in the digitalization of the construction industry.

The event provided insight into the provisions of the newly enacted “Law T/3677 On the Regulation of Public Construction Investments” and the conditions for the mandatory use of the BIM design model. Siemens customers were able to listen to speakers who have gained significant experience with BIM, 3D, and VR design models in the recent past, and who are among the best in the design profession internationally with their own developments.

BIM is not a software or a tool, but a new way of thinking in architecture, and its effective use depends to a large extent on human factors. Attila’s performance started with a cinematic parallel to show the different motivations of each character. While in the film industry, the parties have a mutual interest in achieving the goal, working together effectively is mutually beneficial, so it makes sense to take advantage of the efficiency gains that digitalization can bring, in the construction industry it is different.

The client, the contractor, the designer, the contractor, and the subcontractors focus on different points in the good-cheap-quick coordination system and thus have little interest in increasing efficiency.

The solution lies in a complete change of approach, where goals are set that take into account the whole life cycle of the project, and where mutual needs are understood and mutually supported. The democratization of data (accessibility to the data set) and the regularisation of processes are critical.
