Where Does BIM Pay Off in Industrial Investments? BuildEXT Meetup as Part of OMÉN 2026

The design has changed, we do need a pump after all; the obvious place for it, however, is already occupied by electrical cabinets. Architecture, MEP, electrical: there is an issue, so let’s solve it. On November 10, at the BuildEXT meetup held as part of the National Hungarian Building Services Days, we will use real project situations like this to show what multidisciplinary coordination actually means in practice, and where a well-functioning BIM-based project environment can generate real value.

Every investment project changes continuously. A new technological requirement appears, a piece of equipment changes, a routing needs to be modified, or it simply turns out that two disciplines need the same space. At that point there is no question: the problem has to be solved, as quickly as possible, with all relevant parties involved, but with as few working hours as possible and, of course, with technically robust content.

You have a Ferrari. And…?

There is plenty of talk about BIM and construction digitalization, but technology is only one factor among many. It is worth nothing if it is not embedded into daily project work, change management and communication between disciplines. It is a bit like Formula 1: it does not matter if you own one of the Red Bull cars if your team needs seven times longer than 2 seconds for a tyre change, while the messages coming through your helmet are also based on incorrect information.

This time, the meetup’s central practical case study is built around the Hungarian factory and office development of a Swiss-owned multinational company. We will not present the project only from the designer’s perspective: the client’s technical manager will also take part in the discussion, and we will of course address the economic aspects as well.

BuildEXT meetup – practical knowledge, a great atmosphere and valuable professional connections

What happens when the first change request arrives?

The professional programme will be opened by Csaba Livják, Founder and Managing Director of BuildEXT. His presentation will focus on how to structure a project so that neither change nor the potentially conflicting interests of project participants work against the client or against one another.

He will be followed by András Manherz, Head of MEP Engineering at BuildEXT, who will present real industrial project situations, including cases where a single technical change affected the work of several disciplines and required rapid coordination.

The presentations will be followed by an interactive roundtable, where we will examine the same questions from client, design and professional perspectives. Participants will include Szilárd Kisapáti, Board Member of the Building Services Section of the Hungarian Chamber of Engineers, Gergő Fodor, Technical Manager at REDEL Elektronika, and András Manherz. The discussion will be moderated by Péter Kincses (President of the Media Section of ÉVOSZ; Head of Sales and Business Development at Magyar Építők), who will also invite the audience to challenge the speakers.

At the end of the programme, a live tech demo will show the workflows discussed during the presentations in practice.

Don’t come alone!

We primarily welcome investors, plant managers, project managers, technical managers, MEP and other discipline engineers, designers and contractors – especially teams working on industrial projects or other investments with complex technological requirements.

If you are preparing for a new project, or are already deep into implementation, bring along the colleagues you need to make project decisions with.
