ACADEMIA’s rooftop opened – WELL Core Platinum certification for the modern wing of the building

At the end of April, one of Budapest’s most unique office buildings reached another milestone: the iconic rooftop of ACADEMIA officially opened, while the modern wing of the building was awarded the internationally outstanding WELL Core Platinum certification. The award reaffirms ACADEMIA’s commitment to a healthy working environment, sustainability and user well-being – an approach that is an integral part of BuildEXT’s design principles.
The rooftop overlooking the Danube is not just another community space: thanks to careful architectural design, it is a real experience space, both for relaxation and inspiration. In order to achieve the WELL Core Platinum certification, the building has met a number of criteria that support human well-being – from indoor air quality to the use of natural light and acoustic comfort.
What is WELL Core Platinum certification?
WELL Core Platinum certification is one of the most rigorous building certification systems in the world, developed by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI). It is designed to assess how well a building supports the health and well-being of its occupants, based on scientifically based criteria.
The rating covers 10 main categories, such as:
- air quality,
- water use,
- nutrition and lighting,
- movement and ergonomics,
- mental well-being and soundproofing,
- material use and sustainability.
The Platinum level is the highest rating, indicating that a building is an exemplary example of supporting employees to work in a healthy, inspiring and sustainable environment.
During the project, BuildEXT played a key role in creating the interior design concept for the modern wing and digitising the BIM-based design process. The detailed and up-to-date BIM model created by our team actively supports the operator not only during the construction phase, but also in the building management and in tracking tenant needs.
