PropTech Connect 2025 – what will be discussed at a real estate conference attended by 6,000 people?

PropTech Connect 2025, Europe’s largest real estate and proptech event, took place on September 3-4, where BuildEXT was represented by Csaba Livják. The two days were all about professionals from all over the world sharing how digital technology is transforming the real estate market. We also shared our own BIM integrator story and listened with great interest to the solutions presented by others.

Below is a report posted on the social media page of Csaba Livják, managing director of BuildEXT.

What are they talking about in London, at one of the world’s coolest real estate digitization conferences with 6,000 attendees?

The trends at PropTech Connect are interesting.

Let’s see what we’re bringing home:

▪️The hype surrounding the redeemer AI has died down.

It is natural that everyone uses them, including assistants, agents, and software robots. They have become our colleagues, but the question arises: what problem do we ultimately want to solve with them?

▪️It seems that tech people have no idea about the real problems developers face, while developers are not interested in tech. But there are mixed round tables and dialogue is starting.

▪️Every company has a head of digitalization, tech, or transformation—a CDO, CTO, or CDTO—but only those where the CEO leads the change are successful.

▪️Everything fails where the state or management mandates the introduction of technology developed by a group of experts in a laboratory.

This can only be achieved if people work together to identify pain points and find solutions using new tools.

▪️The market is slowly transforming. Trust-based human decisions will be replaced by data-based decision-making once AI is accepted and becomes reliable. And we will be able to make much better decisions.

▪️BIM is already a given. It goes without saying.

Now we need data warehouses, which will be created by AI, stored in diverse systems, using irregular information with the help of a digital integrator. In multinational companies, this will be a separate business unit, while in Hungarian SMEs it will be a service provider.

▪️Data security is a huge problem.

A hacker who gained access to the system via the security camera’s Wi-Fi can easily disable it and steal all the core data of a major factory.

▪️Building management systems will become obsolete, replaced by emergency solutions, and AI agents will control our homes.

▪️ESG is rarely mentioned, but the carbon footprint of AI and ESG calculations is becoming apparent.

▪️I was surprised by the question “Will the 5-day work week ever return?

We are still searching for what the long term means for a developer or a startup, and we don’t know where these solutions will be in 3-5-10 years, but they are starting to come into their own. And that’s good.

What is the greatest value?

The handful of Hungarian company executives, developers, fund managers, and tech providers who share their experiences over coffee or change the world in the early hours of the morning, on their way home from Soho, in the back seat of a taxi.

The problems that have just been identified, the solutions that have been conceived in their minds, and the international relationships that have been built in the meantime.

Well, this will shape the digitization of the Hungarian built environment.

And this would not have been possible without ProptechZoom and Zoltan Kalmar, MBA, who is the driving force and organizer behind it all.

If you don’t know him, follow him or write to him. There are few people who build such a value-based and innovative business community.

Thanks, Zoli!
