Lead designers in the digital age meetup

What is it about?

The advent of BIM has upended the day-to-day life of the architectural practice, creating new positions, new corporate structures, new functions and new processes.

Managing this is a particular challenge for management, professional leaders, designers and PMs, who do not necessarily have the necessary tools, knowledge or the will itself.

In our January event, we will take a leading designer’s perspective on the challenges of digitalisation:

  • new types of expectation are constant process integration, technological adaptation and educational constraints;
  • where does this place, where does this expand the role of the lead designer in a highly digitised, BIM integrator organisation?
  • how do the architectural BIM professional and the BIM architect separate and work together?

These issues are particularly topical in the dynamic and digitally evolving construction industry, where the high entry threshold and the inevitable mindset shift are forcing smaller and larger offices into different paths – where the traditional strongest may not be the right option.

On this occasion, we also invited leading architects from other renowned Hungarian architectural firms (Zoboki Architecture, Finta and Partners Architectural Studio, Spányi Partners) to discuss their experiences and best practices in a roundtable discussion.

Program

17:45-18:00 – Registration

18:00-18:50 – Opening thoughts
Csaba Livják (CEO, founder)
The Art of Winning an Unfair Game – a threat to BIM and to most players in the market, because success is not primarily a matter of money, but of choice. And whoever makes the decision will be bloodied, but at the very least troubled.

18:50-19:00 – Break

19:00-20:00 – Round table discussion
Csiszér András Csiszér (Zoboki Architectural Office, Design Director), Tamás János Szabó (Finta & Partners Architectural Studio, Lead Designer, Studio Consultant), Csaba Livják (BuildEXT, Founder, Managing Director), Balázs Lengyel (Spányi Partners, Partner, Business Development Director, BIM/ QS Team Leader)
Architect with a BIM perspective or BIM professional with a design perspective? Integrated team or internal service studio? Classical or agile? Lead designer with PM, BIM, HR knowledge and 10 years of leader experience, or…?

20:00-21:00 – Live tech demo & informal discussion
Dávid Cserháti (Lead conceptual artist), András Ábele-Nagy (BIM Manager), Dejan Dulic (Visual Designer)
In our parallel, interactive demo you can try out the industry’s paradigm-shifting tools, from Hololens to Meta Quest to the most effective AR solutions.

The “Lead Designers in the Digital Age” meetup will take place on Thursday, 30 January 2025, 18:00-21:00 at BuildEXT headquarters (1027 Budapest, Horvát u. 14-24., ZenGarden office building, 5th floor).

Why do we organise events on these topics?

Because BuildEXT Ltd. is one of the early innovators in the construction industry, who not only have been delivering real, internationally recognized BIM projects for years, but also invest significant energy in promoting the digitalization of the Hungarian construction industry through our educational activities.

To this end, we regularly give invited talks at universities, national and international professional events and hold free thematic meetups in our office.
