The BIM Diploma Competition 2026 has begun – once again, we are looking for the next generation of digital engineers

BuildEXT will announce its national BIM diploma competition again in 2026, with the aim of encouraging graduating engineering students to show through their diploma projects that BIM is not just a tool for them, but a way of thinking.

The goal: genuine, data-driven engineering thinking

As a BIM integrator, BuildEXT works on complex, multidisciplinary projects on a daily basis. The experience is clear: the key to the digital construction industry is not spectacular models, but rather the structure of information, the consistency of data, and a life cycle approach.

With this thesis competition, we want to encourage students to adopt this approach as early as their university years. “BIM is not a drawing tool, but a decision support system. The thesis project can be the first project where students think in terms of complex, structured, and long-term interpretable models,” said Dániel Joó, BIM manager at BuildEXT and mentor of the BIM thesis competition.

Results of the 2025 competition

Last year’s competition attracted entries of a high professional standard. The finalists demonstrated outstanding performance not only in terms of modeling accuracy, but also in system logic and information management.

The 2025 winners were able to present their theses at the Proptech Hungary conference in front of representatives of the domestic real estate and construction industry – in a real professional environment, in front of real decision-makers.
