Data Throughout the Building Lifecycle – Csaba Livják at AI Summit Budapest 2026

An increasing share of design, development and building operations now takes place in a digital environment. On 8 September, Csaba Livják, Founder and CEO of BuildEXT, will join industry experts at AI Summit Budapest to discuss how these processes can be connected across the entire building lifecycle.

A development project generates a vast amount of technical information. Models, drawings, technical decisions, design changes, asset data and construction information all build on one another. Their value increases significantly when they remain structured, reliable and usable in the next phase of the project.

Connecting these project phases is therefore one of the next important steps in digitalisation.

Data continuity from design to operations

A BIM model created during the design process is much more than a digital representation of the design documentation. With appropriate information management, it can serve as a shared source of data supporting multidisciplinary coordination and construction, and once updated to reflect the as-built condition, it can also become an information basis for building operations.

This requires a consistent data structure, a common data environment and clearly defined information requirements from the very beginning of the project. Digital twins, automated data processing and AI can create real value when built on these foundations.

The objective is ultimately simple: information created once should not be lost at the boundaries between project phases, and each new stakeholder should not have to rebuild the same body of knowledge from scratch.

Digitalization in practice

This is the perspective Csaba Livják will bring to the AI Summit Budapest panel discussion “Digital Solutions from Design and Development to Facility Management.”

The panel will explore how design, development and operational processes can be digitally connected. From BIM systems to intelligent building operations, the discussion will examine how technology can improve operational efficiency, information quality and, ultimately, the business performance of real estate assets.

This approach is also fundamental to how BuildEXT operates. We connect design, engineering control and information management within a common data environment, helping to minimize information loss between project phases and ensuring that the data created remains usable later in the building lifecycle.

Construction Industry at the AI Summit

In 2025, AI Summit introduced a dedicated programme track for the real estate and construction industries for the first time. Csaba Livják presented how artificial intelligence can support design and construction processes, while other discussions in the programme focused on the practical state of AI adoption in the Hungarian market.

This year’s discussion takes the topic one step further: rather than focusing on individual technologies, it looks at the complete digital lifecycle of a building.
