BuildEXT Professional Day for BME civil engineering students
- November 24, 2025
Students specializing in BIM at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics visited us last Thursday as part of their “BIM Applications and Technologies” course. The program took them through the digital value chain that defines the entire life cycle of a modern construction project: from the architectural approach, through cost management and design coordination tools, to AI-based automation, the Scan to BIM process that enables on-site digitization, and finally to HR strategies, without which the technology cannot become a functioning corporate practice.
Student participation was exceptionally high: discussions were characterized by professional questions, critical comments, and interest in practical examples. It was also confirmation for us that openness to the digital construction industry is no longer a trend, but a basic competency.

What were the blocks about?
- BIM from an architect’s perspective – how and why it is worthwhile to coordinate model-based thinking from a civil engineering and architectural point of view.
- Dalux in practice – we used real project examples to show how software can become a central tool for project communication, cost control, and implementation coordination.
- AI and automation – data-driven work, predictive processes, and models that relieve engineers of repetitive tasks.
- Scan to BIM – steps in digitizing real space, point cloud processing, and model reconstruction.
- HR focus – what competencies are required in a modern BIM environment and how are they integrated into a company’s culture?
The visit clearly demonstrated that the digital construction industry is not just a matter of technology: data-driven operations, process optimization, and organizational culture together create the professional quality we believe in. University collaborations help prepare future engineers for the realities of the industry.
Fun fact: our future colleagues really enjoyed planking with the BuildEXT team.

How was your stay with us?
We immediately evaluate all our events, and fortunately, the audience was also very active. Here are some of their comments on the presentations and the day as a whole:
👉 “He summarized and explained very well the steps and thought processes that architects use when designing, which I really liked. Architects were never the enemy, it was rather the engineers with their breakthroughs :D”
👉 “He was really practical and very well prepared 🙂 Most of us had already heard about Dalux and other CDE environments, which I forgot to ask about, and we could have discussed why this particular CDE was chosen from among the many available.”
👉 “It was flawless. At university, these topics are only covered in one or two lectures so far, as this is a new thing in the industry and some lecturers are wary of it (some want to move forward with AI). But it’s good to see that BuilEXT wants to expand in this direction.”
👉 “Everyone was very nice and you are a very sweet little family. I really liked that you paid attention to everyone, because if someone was left alone at the table, someone would immediately go over to them and invite them to eat/drink too.”
👉 “YEEEESSSS At the end of the day, it felt like we were already part of the team, even though I find it difficult to settle into new environments.”
And what kind of event would you like to attend next time?
👉 “Whatever you have guys❤️”
