A New Community Space Is Born: Laying the Foundation Stone of the Swimming Pool in Sárospatak

Last Friday marked the official start of a project that’s especially close to our hearts: the foundation stone of the Tokaj-Hegyalja Training Pool was laid in Sárospatak. Built in the heart of the Iskolakert, the new swimming pool will provide not only university and high school students but the entire town with a modern, sporty community space.

At the event, György Wáberer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Tokaj-Hegyalja University Foundation, emphasized: “This will be a very modern swimming pool, top quality also in terms of energy efficiency.” Mayor Dr. Szabolcs Farkas added that the location preserves the values of the past while offering new opportunities for future generations.

The pool’s doors won’t be closed: beyond students, Sárospatak’s residents will also be welcome. What’s more, swimming and water polo clubs are planned, ensuring that sport, community, and recreation can thrive together in the town.
