Innovating automation

The German Balluff Group is a medium-sized company that has been family-owned for four generations and has become the world market leader in automation for more than 100 years. Its success is based on being a forward-thinking company, not just focused on traditional areas of automation, and on its own vision of product quality – that’s Balluff quality.

Since its establishment in 1989, the company has been continuously expanding and modernising its Veszprém site, and BuildEXT has been asked to prepare several conceptual designs in the last 2 years. In 2024, we were involved in the project to rebuild the H1 hall at their Veszprém site, an investment that represents a significant step forward in future development and efficiency.

During the extension and conversion of the H1 warehouse building, our task was to design the interior of the ground floor and first floor office areas based on the existing architectural and disciplinary plans, in accordance with the aforementioned Balluff quality requirements.

Industrial aesthetics

New office areas upstairs allow production support functions to work close together, facilitating day-to-day communication and collaboration. The new open office was designed with the brand and local needs of Germany in mind. In addition, the use of hi-tech solutions and the ergonomic, aesthetic design of the workstations and common areas were important design considerations.

The biggest challenge in the design process was to ensure that the ever-changing and evolving Balluff brand and the needs of the people who work there were fully taken into account, and that the office space would meet all of these requirements.

In designing the Balluff office, we had to develop an interior design concept that would guide future projects. We broke up the brand colours of grey, white and black with a carefully chosen velvety green, and made the pure simplicity of the white furniture more homely by using natural wood and lots of plants.

In the design of the Balluff office, we broke up the brand colours of grey, white and black with a carefully selected velvety green, and made the pure simplicity of the white furniture more homely with natural wood and lots of plants.

The open office workspaces were designed with ergonomics in mind, and the communal furniture and small meeting islands were designed to create acoustically separated work areas for concentrated work. The central feature of the office is the long, blocky coffee counter and its associated bar, which is a key element of the office community.

The new space was occupied in September 2024, a video of the renovation can be seen in this Balluff LinkedIn post.
