We were tasked with supporting and improving the efficiency of construction using <a href=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/en\/bim\/#bim-alapu-kivitelezeskoordinacio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">advanced construction management tools<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"a-projekt\">The project<\/h2>\n\n<p>The aim of the investment was to create an ISO 7 cleanroom area in an existing part of the building, with associated mechanical and lounge areas. We were tasked with <a href=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/en\/bim\/#bim-alapu-kivitelezeskoordinacio\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/bim\/#bim-alapu-kivitelezeskoordinacio\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">coordinating the construction<\/a> and keeping to the tight <a href=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/en\/bim\/#bim-alapu-utemtervezes-4-d-bim\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">construction schedule<\/a> while dealing with the supplier difficulties that had formed in the current economic climate.<\/p>\n\n<p>During the construction coordination, we worked on the basis of 2D drawings, BIM data provision was not part of the task. The plans were made on a <a href=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/en\/bim\/#klasszikus-modszertan\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/bim\/#klasszikus-modszertan\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">traditional design method<\/a>, so we offered our client a hybrid solution to ensure efficient and traceable project delivery.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"modellezes\">Modeling<\/h2>\n\n<p>The construction plans were available in dwg and pdf format, which does not allow for spatial coordination, or only to a limited extent, and clashes and design errors are difficult to read. At one point, it was necessary to build a 3D model from existing plans using the <a href=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/en\/plan-to-bim\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"14670\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Plan-to-BIM method<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p>On the basement level is the complex and densely fitted mechanical space above, supplying ISO7 clean room. On the one hand, the tight schedule did not allow for the correction of defects on site, and on the other hand, the hourly rate for qualified welding work required of the contractor would have resulted in a very high-cost overrun. The dwg format also did not reveal any possible design errors, so no preventive action could have been taken.<\/p>\n\n<p>Therefore we created a 3D model of the machine room on the basement level from 2D plans (<a href=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/en\/plan-to-bim\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"14670\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Plan to BIM<\/a>), by which the on-site fit and constructability of the steel structure were validated.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<div and informative plan for the design of the heating and cooling system, which can also be used as a basis for future implementation plans.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"lezerszkenneles\">Laser scan<\/h2>\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p>During the cleanroom project, before the covered structures were closed, we scanned the area (<a href=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/en\/what-is-scan-to-bim\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"14744\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Scan to BIM<\/a>) using a LEICA RTC360 laser scanner to create a color point cloud, digitally recording the existing condition.<\/p>\n\n<p>We had two main goals: <\/p>\n\n<p>On the one hand, the <a href=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/en\/what-is-scan-to-bim\/#kivitelezesellenorzes-kovetes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">accuracy<\/a> of the steel structure of the suspended ceiling support of the production area was investigated using a 3D scanner and point cloud comparison. This would have taken the contractor days with conventional equipment and would not necessarily have produced the correct result. We used these tools to complete the task with a 2-day lead time, with an accuracy of +\/-2cm. The steel structure was fitted within the specified tolerances, so construction could continue.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1820\" height=\"1267\" src=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/veszprem-jarmuipar-projektmenedzsment-hoterkep-21.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10860\" srcset=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/veszprem-jarmuipar-projektmenedzsment-hoterkep-21.png 1820w, https:\/\/buildext.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/veszprem-jarmuipar-projektmenedzsment-hoterkep-21-300x209.png 300w, https:\/\/buildext.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/veszprem-jarmuipar-projektmenedzsment-hoterkep-21-768x535.png 768w, https:\/\/buildext.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/veszprem-jarmuipar-projektmenedzsment-hoterkep-21-1536x1069.png 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1820px) 100vw, 1820px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p>On the other hand, we have localized the main mechanical equipment before the elements whose position will need to be known later have been covered, so that the investor will have an accurate knowledge of the position of the equipment for future improvements.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"virtualis-bejaras\">Virtual tour<\/h2>\n\n<p>Using OpenSpace, we used a 360\u00b0 camera to visit the site on a weekly basis during construction.<\/p>\n\n<p>We used the tool to document progress by taking photos and sharing the finished material with the project participants and the client, who could easily take a virtual tour of the construction site, even with a smartphone. <\/p>\n\n<p>With this technology, we have introduced another tool for rapid, real-time, remote change management based on visual information.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group alignfull is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe style=\"padding: 0; border: none;\" src=\"https:\/\/momento360.com\/e\/u\/9c5d5346709e407f8431cf9fe9860170?utm_campaign=embed&amp;utm_source=other&amp;heading=0&amp;pitch=0&amp;field-of-view=75&amp;size=medium&amp;display-plan=true\" width=\"100%\" height=\"400px\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"technologia\">Technology<\/h2>\n\n<p>We used Leica RTC360 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BjsNARrSfNE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Leica BLK2GO laser scanners<\/a> for the survey, Revit for the modeling, and Cloudcompare software for the comparison of the design and existing conditions. Our virtual tour was carried out using an INSTA 360 camera and the OpenSpace platform.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tanulsagok\">Lessons<\/h2>\n\n<p>Every assignment is unique and therefore requires unique solutions. In this case, we joined an ongoing project based on a classical construction plan with hi-tech tools applied along a BIM <a href=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/en\/project-management\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1887\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">project management<\/a> workflow, solving some isolated problems but leaving many possibilities open.<\/p>\n\n<p>We have <a href=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/en\/what-is-scan-to-bim\/#3-modellepites\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">modeled <\/a> the engine room to help our work, but the rest of the building is still in dwg. Thus, there is no complete <a href=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/en\/digital-twin\/#mi-az-as-built-modell\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">as-built model<\/a>, i.e. if the client wants to integrate the building into a modern FM system, he will need a <a href=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/en\/bim\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/bim\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BIM-based<\/a> building model, which will be an extra cost for him as part of a separate order.
