{"id":2787,"date":"2022-04-01T12:21:00","date_gmt":"2022-04-01T12:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/217.144.56.49\/~buildext\/role-of-clash-detection-bim\/"},"modified":"2022-08-18T06:29:45","modified_gmt":"2022-08-18T06:29:45","slug":"role-of-clash-detection-bim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buildext.com\/en\/role-of-clash-detection-bim\/","title":{"rendered":"The blind leading the blind &#8211; how to misunderstand the collision search"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>I love it when an architect or investor proclaims with sparkling eyes that their project is in BIM and that the collision search is the guarantee that the design is good.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>This reminds me of the blind driving prank of R\u00e9mi Gaillard, a scandalous representative of French absurdist humor.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"BLIND MAN PRANK (REMI GAILLARD) \ud83d\ude0e\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/16k-yhcRNk8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n<p>This inefficiency leads to the fact that a good part of Hungarian BIM projects resembles a disco accident, which makes the neck of the construction bleed.<\/p>\n\n<p>It is a fundamental mistake to think that a design is BIM or good quality if the architect and the designers &#8220;blindly&#8221; build models independently, then fit them together and run a clash detection.<\/p>\n\n<p>I try to be graphic.<\/p>\n\n<p>This is as absurd as boasting that<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group alignwide is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"cover-mobile-p has-white-color has-black-background-color has-text-color has-background has-large-font-size\"><strong>you drive blindfolded, but stopping every hour to check what you&#8217;ve done and not having the reassurance that it&#8217;s modern and good to wear a seat belt while doing so.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>So let&#8217;s just say that for a major project, all-phase planning is effective &#8211; when planners design a model and see who is doing what in near real-time.
