Lean Construction, the practical benefits of BIM, steel fabrication and model-based carbon calculation were the main focus of the presentations and discussions at the Graphisoft – Portfolio Construction Technology & Innovation 2024 conference. Several innovations and good practices were presented by the speakers, and Csaba Livj\u00e1k represented BuildEXT in a panel discussion. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n

G\u00e1bor Kiss<\/a>, managing director, Metrodom Kivitelez\u0151, IFK, vice president<\/strong>, asked the participants during one of the panel discussions of the conference how prepared they see the market in the application of BIM, the use of project platforms, what experience they have with the implementation of the BIM model on the operational side, and how the project platforms can support the construction.<\/p>\n\n

J\u00f3zsef Szil\u00e1rd Simon<\/a>, Regional Manager for Central and Eastern Europe, PlanRadar GmbH<\/strong>, said that project platforms help to plan projects by bringing information together in one place, from which everyone works. They also help to avoid errors and delays and make the links between processes visible. For example, users can receive notifications of delays so they can reschedule execution, and document management can be supported by automatic report retrieval. <\/p>\n\n

If you have a well-structured workflow, everyone will know the next step.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

For example, when a plan is approved, the experts can comment on the first set of plans, and then the new plan is submitted after the changes and approvals. It can also be used to record an error, which will be reported to the relevant department, so that corrections can be scheduled immediately. It also serves as a communication platform. <\/p>\n\n

There are many people in the market who are familiar with BIM models, but are not necessarily aware of the real benefits, as they think it is just a more detailed 3D model. BIM<\/a> is useful when you have an owner or operator who wants a digital copy of their building, and it is designed from the outset so that the necessary data is included in the model, the contractor can see the model, and if something needs to be repaired or replaced later, the owner can see what materials or equipment have deteriorated, even years later. <\/p>\n\n
