It also knows its connection to other elements, for example, the wall and the door inside it are connected. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>BIM objects contain manufacturer information<\/strong>, such as the manufacturer&#8217;s name, product part number, delivery date, but also information to help with installation, operation and maintenance.<\/p>\n\n<p>By creating a <a href=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/en\/digital-twin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">digital twin<\/a> (where an <a href=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/en\/digital-twin\/#mi-az-as-built-modell\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">as-built model<\/a> of BIM objects is linked to the building using smart devices), buildings can be operated much more efficiently, cheaply and predictably, which can prevent, for example, unplanned outages that cause losses.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"bim-objektumok-elonyei\"><strong>Benefits of BIM objects<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>BIM objects are the information-carrying units on which the BIM methodology is based, and therefore have many advantages:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the <strong>disciplines <\/strong> (architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical&#8230;) can be <strong>easily integrated<\/strong>, design errors can be detected in advance;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>all project participants have <strong>access to the same BIM model<\/strong>, improving communication and collaboration;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>predicted clashes and failures <strong>reduce the need for changes during construction<\/strong>, leading to cost and time savings;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>maintenance and operation tasks can be <strong>tracked throughout the lifecycle of the building<\/strong>, ensuring a more sustainable operation in the long term.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image construction project, providing comprehensive information on all the details of the building. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>Objects not only provide valuable data during the design and construction phase, but are also key during the operation and maintenance phase. Through integrated and detailed data, BIM objects contribute to more efficient, accurate and <a href=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/en\/bim-esg\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"14081\">sustainable construction projects<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"bim-objektumok-letrehozasa\">Creation of <strong>BIM objects<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"hazon-belul-eloallitott-bim-objektumok\"><strong>BIM objects produced in-house<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>Designers then have <strong>full control<\/strong> over the BIM objects, whether it&#8217;s detail, accuracy or updating. <\/p>\n\n<p>Their advantage is that they can be <strong>precisely adapted<\/strong> to the needs of the designer, the client and the specific requirements of the project. They can be <strong>easily and quickly modified<\/strong> and are <strong>secure<\/strong> in the sense that they do not leak sensitive information to external parties. <\/p>\n\n<p>Their disadvantage is that they are <strong>extremely time and resource intensive<\/strong>. They also require expertise to set up and maintain, cost money to buy the right software and tools and, of course, to train staff. <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"kulso-forrasbol-szarmazo-bim-objektumok\"><strong>BIM objects from external sources<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>External BIM objects are &#8220;boxed products&#8221; and should only be used in certain circumstances.<\/p>\n\n<p>Their advantage is that they can be <strong>used immediately<\/strong>, which can <strong>save time and even money<\/strong> on projects.<\/p>\n\n<p>The disadvantage is that they <strong>do not usually meet the specific needs<\/strong> of the project and may have <strong>limited <\/strong> <strong>customisation<\/strong>. There may also be occasional <strong>incompatibilities <\/strong> and data leaks, and sharing sensitive information with external parties may pose <strong>security risks.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>External BIM object sources:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>manufacturer libraries: manufacturers offer their own BIM objects of their products (e.g. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revitcity.com\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">RevitCity<\/a>);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BIM libraries and databases: online platforms offering BIM objects (e.g. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bimobject.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BIMobject<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/source.thenbs.com\/bimlibrary\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NBS National BIM Library<\/a>);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>expert service providers: companies specialised in the creation of BIM objects (e.g. <a href=\"https:\/\/bimsmith.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BIMsmith<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>There are advantages and disadvantages to using both in-house and externally sourced BIM objects. The choice of the best methodology depends on the specific needs of the project, the resources available and the design requirements. It is important that the BIM objects selected are compatible with the software used and provide the necessary accuracy and detail to successfully deliver the project.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"bim-objektumok-es-a-klasszifikacio\"><strong>BIM objects and classification<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>A construction project can involve many, even tens of thousands of BIM objects. <\/p>\n\n<p>If we consider that an architect&#8217;s office usually manages not only one (or more) <a href=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/projektek\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/buildext.com\/projektek\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">project<\/a>, but also designs a hospital, a condominium or a high-rise warehouse, in addition to industrial facilities, we may wonder: how to navigate among all these BIM objects, so that they have a coherent structure, sufficient detail and do not contain too much unnecessary information.<\/p>\n\n<p>The usability of BIM objects is created by a uniform classification.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Main classification systems:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>IFC (Industry Foundation Classes)<\/strong>: an open standard developed by buildingSMART to enable the interoperability of BIM data between different software.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>OmniClass<\/strong>: a construction classification system used to categorise construction elements, materials and activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Uniclass<\/strong>: a classification system for systems, products, processes and other construction activities used in the UK.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>BIM objects can be classified into categories defined by classification systems so that they can be stored and managed using a <strong>single data structure<\/strong>.
