The award recognises the best architecture, interior design and design solutions in 21 countries of the South East Europe region in 6 different categories. The Grand Prix shortlisted GIRO office building renovation project was awarded in the Workplace category.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

From 15-16 May, the Big SEE gala<\/a> was held in Ljubljana to honour outstanding architectural and interior design projects from 21 countries in the South-East Europe region. BIG was launched in the early 2000s to promote high-quality Slovenian architecture and design. In the mid-2010s, they expanded their activities to the South East Europe (SEE) region, including Hungary. The BigSEE Awards are held in Ljubljana every year to recognize the region’s most outstanding creative achievements, and this year’s list of winners included the GIRO office building modernization project<\/a>, among several other projects by local architects.<\/p>\n\n

The project <\/a> aimed to refurbish the actual headquarter of Giro Zrt. The concept was to design a 21st-century professional working environment using the latest technology integrated into a more than 150-year-old eclectic style building, in the heart of Budapest. We created new social spaces and inspiring open offices to meet the client\u2019s expectations. The concept is based on the contrast emerging from the juxtaposition of classic and modern styles. We endeavored to blend the richness of old details with the simplicity of modern minimalism along with the company\u2019s renewed identity.<\/p>\n\n

We used the most innovative methods to support the design and construction; we laser scanned the building, designed in closed BIM to coordinate 24 disciplines, and used CDE<\/a> and BIM-based project management to see the project through to completion. The project was delivered on time and on budget, with a seamless inter-bank financial settlement system embedded in the building. The office furniture (Herman Miller, Wilkhahn, Arper) was supplied by Europa Design.<\/p>\n\n
