Steps of Scan to BIM<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A Scan to BIM project consists of the following main steps:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I. Specification<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We discuss the client’s needs and help determine the required level of accuracy (LOA) of the survey and level of detail (LOD) of the model based on its intended use of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

II. Laser scanner survey<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

BuildEXT’s team will carry out laser scanning on-site to create a point cloud of billions of points on the site. The survey will also include photo documentation. On request, we also carry out a photogrammetric analysis using drone footage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

III. Analysis and processing<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The collected data is organized and a single point cloud is created for the surveyed area. Based on the point cloud, we build a 3D model of the building in Autodesk Revit and attach data for each element based on the specifications and needs agreed upon in advance. This creates a 3D database with information, also known as a Building Information Model (BIM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IV. BIM application<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The building is documented realistically and accurately, making the BIM model easy to interpret and versatile, which can be used for redesign, operation, renovation, extension, or model-based construction control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the first steps in any architectural project is an accurate survey of the planning area. Laser scanning is the most modern way to do this. The resulting 3D model is the basis for starting work.
The more complex the project, the more it is essential to have accurate initial data. For the refurbishment of existing buildings, Scan to BIM method is the fastest<\/strong> and by far the most accurate way<\/strong> to generate the necessary baseline data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The big advantage of laser scanning is that data can be acquired quickly and without touching or approaching the objects to be measured. Therefore, surveys where there is only a narrow window of time <\/strong>or where access to the area is limited <\/strong>can be carried out without any problems using this technology.
Typical examples are special engineering cases like complex and oversized building complexes, biologically or otherwise hazardous industrial installations, uniquely shaped or too high structures, mechanical installations, etc.
Technology is also used in special areas like archaeological surveys, road or railway surveys, and, in the film industry, the documentation of spatial relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
